Almost all kinds of marine creatures can be washed ashore and everything including whales can swim alive near shore.

But only few species are able to live permanently on beaches as they are hostile like deserts.
Some typical species groups living on beaches are presented here.

Poor walkers but nevertheless on land:
Seals

Swimming mammals with fluke and flippers:
Whales

Diving champions and flight artists:
Seabirds

Nesting (sometimes too) close to the water:
Shorebirds

Tough survival artists:
Beach plants

Almost lost in sand and wind:
Beach insects

Timeless finds on the timeless beach:
Beach stones
